And I'm not wearing contacts or glasses!  I love it!

I had LASIK surgery Friday and it was the best experience I could have asked for.  There was no pain, and it was all over in less than 20 minutes.  I told David afterward that the most discomfort I felt was when they put numbing drops in my eyes-it stung a little-sort of like having soap in my eyes.  After that, the hardest part was convincing myself I really needed to take it easy the rest of the day-and try to keep my eyes closed as much as possible like the doctor recommended even though I felt fine.

I went for my check-up one day after surgery and read the eye chart-20/20 vision!  Hooray!

Soon we'll post pictures-the before and after-and one of me in my stylish sleeping goggles.  :)

So, I went to our eye doctor today for a regularly scheduled appointment. It was a fairly standard appointment, but I did notice something that I think warrants a small change...

You know how, when visiting an optometrist, they ask you to read the lowest line possible on the eye chart? And they ask you to do it for each eye?

What's to prevent someone from MEMORIZING the line for the first eye and just spouting it off for the next eye?!? Or even memorize it from the last time?!?

That's why I propose that eye charts use random numbers and letters. I predict that it will make the test much more accurate.

But then again, maybe I'm crazy for having noticing little things like this.

David

Note - my eyes actually have different prescriptions so the eye chart actually DOES look different between my right eye to my left eye. I'm not completely crazy.

In planning the surprise party for Cara's Mom, emails to discuss details were labeled with the subject line: "Top Secret Mission." Now that the mission has been accomplished, we've posted the evidence for you to see. Birthday party pictures can be seen be clicking here.

I know we haven't posted in a while, but Cara and I have been really busy lately. I just finished up my MBA a couple of weeks ago. But honestly, no one cares about that - they want to see the pictures from vacation! So, it is my pleasure to inform you that we've posted pictures from our Alaskan cruise. We left from Vancouver and stopped in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and finally Whittier. We flew out of Anchorage. It was a lot of fun, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. There are over 200 pictures so kick back, relax, and take a look.

You can get to the pictures from the Photos link on the right or by clicking here.

We just posted some pictures from when Cara's parents visited. We had fun with Cleo and also took them to see Devil's Den, one of the state parks in Arkansas. Check them out!

Last night, Cara and I were driving back from church during a thunderstorm. The entire time, I kept wishing that I had my digital camera with me, because the lightning was amazing! The storm was almost past just as the sun was going down, so the entire sky was almost golden in color. There was also a full rainbow all the way across the sky. While all of this was going on, the lightning was filling the sky, shooting from cloud to cloud. (side note - I'm not a writer, so if my descriptive writing skills are lacking, I apologize)

Well, today at work, I notice a post on digg about "incredible pictures" and "the moment lightning shared the sky with a rainbow." Hmm... that's interesting. But surely it couldn't be Fort Smith, Arkansas, now could it? But it is! Check out the digg post here.

The actual website with pictures is here at Daily Mail. The craziest part of all is that this Daily Mail site is apparently a British site! Be sure to check out the pictures.

I frequently get onto my kids for hitting people to get their attention, especially when it's my arm they're slapping.  I'll tell them, "If you want to talk to someone, say their name instead of hitting them."  Similarly, it seems universal that kids will try to get the attention of their teacher not by saying the teacher's name, but instead by screaming, "TEACHER!"  This gets on teachers' nerves and I can see why.  Earlier this week,  as one of my 4-year old clients was hitting me on the arm, I gave him a look that clearly communicated what I wanted him to do.  But as hard as he tried, he just couldn't seem to remember my name.  He continued hitting my arm as he said, "um...um...Therapy, could I ask you a question?"
